E&S Insurance Exec Mike Miller Launches MGA Pivix

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., September 19, 2024—Pivix Specialty Insurance Services Inc.(“Pivix”), a managing general agency focusing on the Excess and Surplus (E&S) lines market, is thrilled to announce the official launch of its operations. Pivix was founded by a team of E&S veterans, including former Scottsdale Insurance President Mike Miller, who serves as Pivix’s Chief Executive Officer and President.

Pivix is an E&S platform offering property and casualty coverages for targeted segments. Products will be distributed exclusively through wholesale brokers.

The company's management team—all alumni of Nationwide—brings proven underwriting expertise in Pivix’s targeted lines of business and a strong network of wholesale brokers, positioning Pivix as a formidable player in the E&S market.

Pivix was founded by Mike Miller, Ken Levine, Joe Griffith, and Sandy Vertuno. Miller was previously President of Scottsdale Insurance and has started several other companies.

Levine, Pivix’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary, joined Nationwide’s executive team as Chief Actuary of Scottsdale and went on to serve as CFO of several Nationwide specialty P&C companies.

Griffith, Pivix’s Chief Information Officer, spent 22 years in various technology roles at Nationwide and Ategrity.

Vertuno spent more than 30 years at Nationwide, rising to Senior Director of Contract Binding before becoming Chief Underwriting Officer at Ategrity. She will be Chief Underwriting Officer -Contract Binding for Pivix.
